Our Adoption Journal – 2

Again, to acknowledge National Adoption Month, I’m sharing some journal entries from when we were adopting Zach.  I hope the entries help tell our story and maybe even encourage or inspire someone!

This entry is dated March 26, 2001:

God has been directing us to adoption for years.  I wish I knew and could emember every situation and conversation that the Lord has used in directing us.

We have several reasons for wanting to adopt.

First, we believe it is part of God’s call for us, and we want to be obedient to Him.

We want more children.

And we want to give our love to and share our Christian home with a child who needs it.

Also, we want to live out our pro-life convictions by offering an option for an unplanned pregnancy.

We desire to adopt a black or mixed-race baby because that is where the most need is, but also because we want to act on our desire for racial reconciliation.  God’s love is for all:  black and white and brown.  We want our family to be a picture of that.

James 1:27  “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:  to look after orphans and widows in their distress. . . “
